African Finals Opening Ceremony takes place
Volcanic ash could not cloud the proceedings at the Opening Ceremony & Draw of the Premier Cup 2010 Africa Qualifications at NIKE's European Headquarters in Hilversum this evening. Teams from Esperance de Tunis and Right to Dream Academy from Ghana beat the weather - and the odds - to arrive earlier today whilst Daga Young Stars and ENPPI, the under-15 Premier Cup Champions of Cameroon & Egypt, will arrive later this evening.
Presiding over the Draw was Cameroon & Ajax Midfielder Enoh Eyong , who welcomed the assembled youngsters and left them with some sound advice. "Remember your dreams. If you want to achieve your ambitions you need to have the discipline to work hard and the desire to always improve - but the most important thing is to remember that you have a dream. If your dream is to win this tournament then you must bring that determination and commitment to every match you play. Enjoy yourself on the pitch, take pleasure in your game, always play to your best - and you will be on the road to becoming a professional footballer."
Group matches commence tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10.00am with the last matches scheduled for Wednesday 19 May at NIKE's Hilversum Campus - and the final battle for the title of Premier Cup Africa Champions. The winner will take the title and secure a highly coveted place at the 2010 Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) World Finals from 4-7 August next.
